Hello Friends and Neighbors.

 

My name is Leah King.  I was born and raised in a small rural town in Michigan.  I have been with my best friend, my husband, for sixteen years.  We have two wonderful boys ages sixteen and thirteen.  We have lived in Boone County, Kentucky for thirteen years and truly love the state.

 

I am not a career politian, in fact, very much the opposite.  I am an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at a pediatric hospital where I see first hand the financial, social and quality care issues that impacts families.  I am a working mother who believes in the importance of betterment through education, the stabilization of our economy through the introduction of new jobs and providing lower cost and more available healthcare in the 87 underserved counties in Kentucky.

 

I am running because I believe in Gandhi's quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."  The reigning Republican Senator has actually sued the government because he wanted to be able to take gifts from lobbyist.  I simply think this is wrong and public service shouldn't have a price tag on it.  We need to do what is best for the people of this great state.
